United States History and Government – NYS Regents Class

“Few will have the greatness to bend history itself; but each of us can work to change a small portion of events, and in the total; of all those acts, will be written the history of this generation.” -Robert Kennedy

Overview:
Welcome to the summer extension program for United States History and Government. While this may not be exactly how you’d imagine spending summer the fact is, we are here. My plan is to make the most of the time we have together to ensure you are successful in your goals. Whether you need to pass the Regents or gain class credit, I am here to help.

Symbiotic Relationship:
I believe your success is my success. I want you to succeed but in return I need you to put forth a true, honest effort. That means staying focused, putting the cell phone away, showing up every day and completing the work assigned.

Attendance and Make Up Work:
Students that are absent should do their best to contact me using the class website, email, or phone (call the school!) in an effort to find out what assignments they are missing and where they can find the course materials. All unexcused late work will have a 20% deduction (papers* and projects included). It is your job to contact me.
-Chronic absenteeism will be reflected by the school’s policy

Course Requirements:
The grading system used will follow the same schedule as noted in your student handbook as determined by the district.
The class will be graded on a 0-100 scale and assignments are weighted as shown below:
Quizzes and Exams (x2 points) 40% Homework: 25% Papers: 25%
Attentiveness (Attendance/Participation): 10%
